Five Ft. Three

“A society that puts equality before freedom will get neither. A society that puts freedom before equality will get a high degree of both.” ― Milton Friedman

There was a report of how our tax dollars are spent, from their website it said:

Where Your Money Goes

Total estimated federal spending for 2008 will be about $2.93 trillion, a
7% increase over last year. This is a staggering figure, but where exactly does
the money go? Here’s a partial list of categories that are financed by your tax
dollars, according to the Office of Management and Budget. To see the entire
2008 federal budget (fiscal year 2009), visit www.whitehouse.gov.

2008 Federal Spending
CONSUMER & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY: $3.1 billion
FEDERAL PRISON SYSTEM: $6.2 billion
DISASTER RELIEF & INSURANCE: $12 billion
INT’L DEVELOPMENT & HUMANITARIAN AID: $14.3 billion
NAT’L INSTITUTES OF HEALTH: $28.6 billion
FOOD & NUTRITION ASSISTANCE: $60.2 billion
HOMELAND SECURITY: $64.9 billion
MEDICARE: $396 billion
MILITARY SPENDING: $583 billion
SOCIAL SECURITY: $615 billion

I don’t understand how entitlement spending is getting so little attention in the presidential election.
