Five Ft. Three

Becoming Independent

on April 22, 2008

In exchanges with conservatives at another blog, I get the message that they think that winning an election is about having someone with an “R” after his or her name getting into office. It doesn’t matter if that person isn’t very conservative, any percentage conservative above the democrats is enough for them. Nevermind that there are conservative choices presented to them, if they are not considered electable then forget them (forget the fact that if they supported that candidate he or she could be electable).

So if this is the face of the Republican party, I want no part of it. I will become an Independent and make my choice based on my principles, and not the principles the GOP is ramming down my throat.

Anyway, perhaps showing Senator McCain that conservatives are willing to look to other candidates could only force him to the right on issues where he is not.

P.S. This blogging has been edited from the original posting to avoid any perceived personal attack.
