MAKE it a good day

on September 3, 2009

At the end of an e-mail I received today from a PTA member, she wrote “thanks, and make it a great day!” It struck me as odd, different from the usual “have a nice day!” But then I got to thinking, how do you “have” a nice day? It’s not tangible, you cannot “own” or “have” a day (good or bad). A simple “make it a great day” is a reminder to us that Life throws us all sorts of challenges, but we can “make” the most of it. “Make” is a verb, an action, and we cannot just sit back and wait for positive things to come to us, we have to DO stuff to get it to come. To “have” something is just to possess, not to actually create.

Therefore, I like the new motto, maybe Bon Jovi could re-write his song.

Oh yes, make it a great day everyone.
