Five Ft. Three

Capitalism is not evil

on April 30, 2010

I went to Dictionary.com for the definition of capitalism, they list:

An economic system based on a free market, open competition, profit motive and private ownership of the means of production. Capitalism encourages private investment and business, compared to a government-controlled economy. Investors in these private companies (i.e. shareholders) also own the firms and are known as capitalists.

Capitalism is considered by some as evil or greedy or not in line with Christianity. I would like to know what part of Capitalism is any of those things?

Now some people who live in an economic system may be evil or greedy or not act as Christ would have, but that doesn’t negate the whole economic system of Capitalism!

Motivation is a good thing, in fact. It inspires people to produce and to invent. How is that evil? How is getting a fair and mutually agreed upon price for your work or your goods bad?
