Why are we a “polarized” nation?

on January 13, 2011

President Obama says we are, but why are we?  If we all just followed the Constitution, then we would all be free to pursue our happiness, it really is that simple.

  1. Whatever President Obama says is nothing more than Self Serving rhetoric. It may be good for selling T-Shirts and Bumper Stickers, but that's about it.

When people usually libs say we may disagree politically but all have the same goals I disagree with this.

I'm not sure exactly how "polarized" we are. Most people I know have opinions and are willing to discuss them and listen to others. We may never change the others opinions and forever agree to disagree however I do not see us (or most of the USA) as "polarized". There has actually been, and rightly so, a fairly big back lash regarding all this polarized finger pointing lately. Most folks want a "just the facts" approach and take a "how can we make this better" road. This is a rather civil approach. However, with that said. . .Civility does not sell newspapers.Look at who is in the media spot light(s). And yes there are folks on the left and right who "make polarized" news. It stirs emotions, creates debate, furthers agendas and boosts both ratings and bank accounts.

News should not be polarizing, it should just report the facts, shouldn't it?

  6. Beth says:

Listen, I don't expect everyone to agree on everything, but if we all followed the Constitution, then we wouldn't have the government getting involved, which is where all the polarizing is happening! Because those in power think they know better than you or I, or can take care of us better than we can take care of ourselves, and they actually really suck at it. Unfortunately, some smucks think the government can do better (even though history has proven otherwise), and so it goes.
