To all Glenn Beck haters

on April 18, 2011

The leftists are getting their wishes (or so they think) because they think they have silenced Glenn Beck.  Even some fellow conservatives seem eager to dump him.  Well, I hate to burst all your bubbles, but he is far from done.

People attack the messenger because they cannot attack the things he says.

Truth has no agenda.

The truth shall set us all free.

  1. People attack the messenger because they cannot attack the things he says. I find it difficult to believe how anyone at all could read the Politifact piece on Wilmington and not admit that it was all a gross fabrication on Mr. Beck's part. Politifact contacted his producer to ask for sources and confirmation and received no answer. The information Politifact obtained regarding the amounts and disbursement of government funds to Wilmington and the county surrounding is information easily available to all members of the public and is obtained without any fees. The information clearly shows that Wilmington and the surrounding area received several million dollars in government aid, with local officials attempting to help their citizens by obtaining even further aid. This would clearly prove that Mr. Beck's story was a complete falsehood. Whether his research was done by himself or his staffers, he personally presented the story as fact, when in reality it was complete fiction. And in the end, as his presentation under his own name, he retains at least an ethical obligation to ensure that the information he presents is accurate and truthful. I'm surprised that Mr. Beck's listeners, who are admonished to 'do their own homework', didn't discover that the story was entirely untrue. It's common for his devotees to claim that Politifact or anyone else for that matter is 'attacking the man because they can't attack his words'; however, it would take someone delusional to fail to admit that this story is no less than a total lie. What say you to the story of Wilmington, Beth? Had you done your homework on this one and discovered yourself it was completely untrue? It doesn't take much research to obtain the relevant facts and figures; I'm sure that no one used to 'doing their homework' would have had any trouble whatsoever with it. Ignorance may be bliss, but knowledge is power. And I'll be surprised if you leave this comment up… it's so much easier to ignore what you don't want to admit.

  2. Beth says:

The story is not completely untrue, Saty. 60 Minutes is the one who called Wilmington "Ground Zero" for the bad economy. TARP money was getting thrown around to lots of places who didn't ask for it. Glenn Beck wanted to highlight how the town has had churches of various denominations join forces to help the people in the area. How can highlighting that be a negative to you? Just because it didn't involve President Obama? Because they created a prayer room for people to come and bring their intentions, and to pray for others? That is no lie. Why do you have a problem with Mr. Beck coming to one town to try to bring them help? If they got so much money from the government, then why were they still struggling?

  3. Mr. Beck stated that the town had refused government help and was working without government help, Beth. What makes the Wilmington really special, he continued, is that Wilmington refuses government assistance, a key tenet of the political philosophy he espouses on his shows."It went from the No. 1 most up-and-coming city, and a city everybody wants to live in, to ground zero. And this town hasn’t taken any money from the government. They don’t want any money from the government," he said on the show.Is this not patently untrue, Beth? The town's leaders were beating down doors to get assistance for the citizens. Meanwhile, Mr. Beck stated that the town hadn't taken any money from the government AND didn't want any. But the town's leaders were working as hard as they could to get that assistance!!!Do you dispute that the town and county got millions of dollars? And how can you reconcile that with Mr. Beck's statements that the town hadn't taken any money from the government?

  4. Excellent post Beth and WELCOME back. The Glenn Beck Haters are the same two faced Commie Hypocrites that try to preach "civility". It seems that they only do so when it suites their agenda. Boycotts and pickets and protests and letter writing and partitions, to get people removed for the media are the lefties way of fair and balanced.

  5. soapster says:

"The Glenn Beck Haters are the same two faced…"I don't "hate" Glenn Beck. I just don't find him to be all that credible on a number of issues. In fact, he himself could in fact (on some issues) come across as two faced. He plays the left/right paradigm. I've pointed out such instances. What's more, while he repeats the "question with boldness" mantra over and over, he seems to not only balk but verbally criticize anyone who applies that very mantra with respect to the events of 9/11.

  6. Doug says:

Beth, First of all, glad to see you back online.Second, IMO, the nobody is to blame for Beck losing his show except himself. The trouble started when he began to alienate his supporters and sponsors, that was the beginning of the end.Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing (and should not be abused), but money talks and once you lose that you are off the air.

  7. soapster says:

The cozy relationship between he and Gold line and gold line's grotesque premiums didn't help his cause either.

  8. soapster says:

Beck also stated he thought Julian Assange should be executed.

  9. With the number of times Beck has had to retract statements and issue apologies, you'd think he'd have fired his research team ages ago, or at least started checking up on them himself (if he doesn't already do a good part of his own research). But one of the things that boggles me is how his own supporters don't find the misinformation themselves, if they're 'doing their homework'. The Wilmington story is a perfect example; anyone, in just a few minutes, can prove that it's full of holes. How come none of the people who watch and listen to him found them?Truth has no agenda, right?

  10. soapster says:

Beck's agenda, while having morsals of truth within, is not the quest for truth exclusively. It is instead an agenda to discredit democrats and their policies. In so doing, it will usher in Republicans.

  11. And imo, panders to the fringe element of republicans and tea party adherents.

  12. soapster says:

Which tea party adherents? The original modern day tea party members or the incorporated version infiltrated by neo-cons?Think about that before you answer because you should know full well how he demonized Debra Medina on his radio show.

  13. Beth says:

Yes, Soapie, Beck did indeed demonize Debra Medina on his show, but you are wrong in thinking he wants to usher in Republicans, he is just as hard on them as he is Democrats. You don't really listen to him, do you?As for Wilmington, Beck's angle was on the people of Wilmington, not on the local government, he was showing how the people and the churches were getting involved with their own recovery. If TARP money was thrown in their direction, that doesn't mean they begged for it, lots of places got projects they didn't ask for.

  14. Beth says:

In my opinion, Beck followers are going underground, so the haters are going to wish he was on Fox at 5 so they could hear what he is up to. Be careful what you all wish for!ooops, too late.

  15. You STILL can't admit the whole story was incorrect, Beth? You STILL can't admit that the man said the town didn't take any money and didn't want any money, but that they GOT millions of dollars? You STILL can't admit that it was untrue?

  16. Beth says:

Do you believe in President Obama, Saty?

  17. Just can't answer the question, can you?

  18. Beth says:

    You can't either, can you?

  19. Beth says:

And I have answered, you just don't like the answer.

  20. It's not about me, Beth, or the President either. This thread is about Glenn Beck… remember?Stop trying to make it what it's not and distract from the issue.

  21. Beth says:

Actually, the title of this posting is "To all Glenn Beck haters".Sounds like it IS about you.So, why don't you answer my question?

  22. I'm still waiting for you to answer mine: why you hadn't discovered these falsehoods yourself if you've been doing your homework, and why you just can't admit the story was a fabrication.

  23. Beth says:

I have answered, so if you won't answer me, then I will have to assume that you are OK with the President of the United States and the most powerful man in the world lying to you.Meanwhile, you look at Glenn Beck taking a human interest story of a small town and question why he talked to the people of the town and let them tell their stories.Really?

  24. Beth says:

By the way, did you actually watch the show when Mr. Beck was in Wilmington?

  25. Beth, As usual, you try to spin things into things they're not in order to get out of the truth, and bring in red herrings and distractions. This is so not new; every time you get nailed into a corner and facts look you in the eye you do this. But obviously no amount of facts, love or money is going to make you admit that Glenn Beck's story on Wilmington, Ohio is a lie.I leave you to your cognitive dissonance and hope you take Mr. Beck's admonishment to do your homework-honestly and without bias to results-seriously. Otherwise, where's 'truth has no agenda'?And by the way, this discussion wasn't about the President. I'm not engaging in your spin techniques.Have yourself a really wonderful day.

  26. Beth says:

Right, the discussion was about Glenn Beck HATERS such as yourself, and their twisted thoughts that a lying president of the US is all fine and dandy, but Glenn cannot tell a story of a small town's struggle with an economic downturn. I mean, how idiotic is that? Glenn Beck haters, such as yourself, are just plain sad.

  27. Sure he can, Beth.. except he ought to be labeling it as the fiction it is.

  28. Beth says:

I would label Obama press conferences as fiction.

  29. Uh.. what evidence, Beth? What homework?I put up Politifact's piece on the story, which included direct quotes from Glenn Beck referring to 'the town' refusing aid.He never said 'the citizens of the town' or 'the people of the town', he said 'the town', which in common usage would refer to the governing bodies of 'the town', as in 'Town Of Wilmington', 'Town of Wilmington Police Department'. That's common usage. If you want to refer to the citizenry versus the governing bodies, you say 'the people of Wilmington'.So what evidence? The evidence is clear and factual that 'the town' of Wilmington got multiple millions of dollars in aid from the government, and that Glenn Beck said they refused it, didn't want it and weren't having any of it. Meanwhile the governing bodies of 'the Town of Wilmington' were banging down doors to get whatever they could. So what homework have YOU done to somehow make what Glenn Beck said something other than made-up nonsense?

  30. Beth says:

There is no need for homework for the story of Wilmington, did you watch the actual show? It was Glenn talking to the people of Wilmington, when you are talking to people about their lives, there is no evidence, you are simply hearing their story! And for the last time, TARP money getting sent to the region does not count! Lots of bailouts were given that were not asked for, and lots of projects were created that were not asked for.
