How are you going to celebrate Constitution Week, 2011?

on September 18, 2011

Happy Constitution Day, everyone! Even President Obama proclaimed today Constitution Day and this coming week Constitution Week. I think a Tea Party meeting as well as an NRA meeting is the perfect way to celebrate, what do you think?

Here’s a quiz you can take to test your knowledge of the Constitution:

Good luck, and enjoy this week of freedom courtesy of the Constitution of the United States!

Darn, only got 50% on the test. But got them all correct on this one ..go figure.

  2. We'll be remembering Constitution Day in my homeschool classes this week.

  3. I missed only one question on the quiz, but I dispute the wording of that question. It was the only question that made me hesitate and read it three times.

  4. Dave Miller says:

As the courts are on both sides of a couple of the questions raised in this test, and the correct answer seems to be on conservative side of the ledger, folks like BB & me really had no chance to score well without that knowledge beforehand.AOW, what question did you miss?

This quiz sucks. #2 is false?Even if one invokes the War Powers argument with respect to Libya, it needs to be remembered the following:The president is required to notify congress within 2 days of committing armed forces and forbids armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days. From Wiki: May 20, 2011, marked the 60th day of US combat in Libya (as part of the UN resolution) but the deadline arrived without President Obama seeking specific authorization from the US Congress.[8] President Obama, however, notified Congress that no authorization was needed,[9] since the US leadership was transferred to NATO,[10] and since US involvement is somewhat limited. On Friday, June 3, 2011, the US House of Representatives voted to rebuke President Obama for maintaining an American presence in the NATO operations in Libya, which they considered a violation of the War Powers Resolution.[11][12]"Even the entry for the War Powers Act at Wiki states that Obama's action in Libya ignored the War Powers Act.

Having gone back and looked at the remainder of the quiz, the "American exceptionalism" pitch at the end, coupled with the distortion on question #2 makes perfect sense to me now.

The "" domain is owned by the Heritage Foundation which is largely funded by the likes of the Koch brothers. The Koch brothers play a good game and fund many a think tanks (of an apparently libertarian bent) but free-market libertarians they are not. They're corporatists and advocates of corporate welfare and corporate subsidies.

  8. Doug says:

Actually, I take exception to the question that Congress is "a branch". Of the ones listed, only the Office of President is a branch. That is the only one I missed, but I still got it correct.See, even dems and moderates can know and respect the constitution…

  9. soapster says:

Edit: the quiz had question #2 as true. It should be false.

  10. Beth says:

Let me guess Soapie, the Koch brothers haven't given a dime to Ron Paul, so they are evil in your opinion.

  11. soapster says:

No, they're evil because they're crony capitalists. If you want to apologize for them then have at it.

  12. “They're evil because they're crony capitalists”? Whats wrong with capitalists? It’s the opposite of Obama's Socialist policies. . Under your premise do you also think that Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are “evil”? I’d rather say that George Soros is “EVIL”

  13. soapster says:

You conveniently left out crony Mal.

  14. soapster said… You conveniently left out crony Mal.I didn't leave out anything, I copied that line from your post.

  15. soapster says:

When I said you left it out I was referring to the fact that when you inquired "What's wrong with capitalists?" you either intentionally or by your own incompetence distorted my post wherein I stated the Koch brothers were crony capitalists.I am not of the opinion that crony capitalism is capitalism. Crony capitalism is far better defined as corporatism or fascism really. It is crony capitalism that I am and was talking about.

I gave you the benefit of the doubt Mal by suggesting that it was intentional on your part. It's not my problem that you can't read. And really, for you to infer that I belittle others…that's rich. Have you ever read your own blog? That's a little like the pot calling the kettle black.Your tactic is sort of akin to the occurrence wherein the distinction between illegal immigration and legal immigration ceases to exist.

  18. That's laughable, You are a prime example of the pot calling the kettle black. It was very revealing in Beth's prior post.
