I don’t know if I can take it anymore

I mean, does anyone else think the world is really going to hell in a hand basket for real?

  1. soapster says:

Yep. It's gonna be on you as to how well you weather it.

  2. Lista says:

Yes, but God is in Control and if we are in the End Times, then we are in the End Times. Fortunately, those of us who Believe in Him are going to be Raptured and Removed from all of this Chaos.

  3. Lista says:

Actually Soap,How Well we Handle it Depends more on Our Believe in God, than it does in our Faith in Our Own Self-Sufficiency.

  4. soapster says:

Very well Lista, you can pray in one hand and crap in the other and see which fills first.

  5. Beth says:

That's OK Soapie, we can pray for you too.

  6. Lista says:

Well Soap,While you are Busying yourself Crapping in your Hand, I'll just Relax and enjoy Life. Life is Far too Short to be Filling it with Crap and Meaningless Activity. God does Take Care of my Needs. He always has and He will Continue to do so Regardless of what Happens Politically in this Country.Besides, a Hand that is Full of Prayers, whether then Crap, remains Available to Share God's Love with those Around us and more Opened to Receive God's Blessings more and more and since it is never Filled completely, there is always Room for more and more. A Crap Filled Hand can not Receive or Give anything because it is already Filled with Crap. What God can do for you, Soap, is to Wash all the Crap Away and Fill you instead with Love.If you Desire to Fill your Hand Up, Soap, be sure and Fill it with the Right Things. Crap may be an Effective and Efficient Filler, but it Serves no Beneficial or Meaningful Purpose.Who Wants a Hand Full of Crap, anyway? That's not much of a Goal to Brag about.

  7. Beth says:

    Well said, Lista.

  8. soapster says:

It doesn't surprise me that the point was completely lost on you Lista. The point in my statement is that you can A) sit around on your ass hoping and praying that things will improve, that you'll have money to buy food to feed yourself and your family, etc.; ORB) you can actually take action yourself and make the change you want to see in the world.

  9. Lista says:

You Know Soap,It's not that I do not Understand your Point. It's just that I wanted to Make a Different One and now I have a Couple more Points to Make.A) It is not True that People who Pray Sit Around on their #%@$ and do not Follow Up their Prayers with Action. There is Absolutely Nothing in my First Couple of Comments that either Stated or Implied such a Thing. B) The Most Meaningful Changes that Occur do not Take Place without Prayer.Let me Review my Point, though. In the Analogy of Prayers or Crap in one's Hand, the Hand Represents Time and the Crap Represents Meaningless Human Activity, which is Exactly what Results without Prayer. For the Most Part, those who do not Believe in God and do not Pray do not really Know what is Truly Important and what is not. When we do not Pray and Interact with God, we do not Make the Right Choices and what Our Hands Get Filled Up with is Crap. This Crap is Totally Efficient and Quick at Filling up our Hand (That is our Time), but it is not Work towards what is Significant and Meaningful. When we Pray, we Take a Minute Before Acting and in the Calmness of our Spirit, we Understand better what is the Best Thing to Fill up our Hands (Our Time) with and Though what we Accomplish may Take a Little more Time, it is Meaningful and Significant and Far Better than a Hand Full of Crap. You don't have to Agree with me, Soap, but I am Hoping that you will Understand my Point. What you are saying, Soap, is not Really that Different than Criticizing the Idea that we should Think before we Act. Consider, for Example, how Silly it would sound to say, "You can Think in One Hand and Crap in the Other and see which one Fills Up First." Certainly, though, you would not Argue against the Idea that a Hand Full of Thought is Better Equipped to Act then a Hand Full of Crap (Meaningless Activity). Well, the Same is True of a Hand Full of Prayer.Oh and BTW, Beth, the Reason why "the World is going to Hell in a Hand Basket" is because the World is Filled with too Little Prayer and Far too much Crap.

  10. soapster says:

"Oh and BTW, Beth, the Reason why "the World is going to Hell in a Hand Basket" is because the World is Filled with too Little Prayer and Far too much Crap."No it is precisely because people think they can, as I said, simply sit on their asses and hope and pray for good things to happen.Case in point:Last year when I ran for state house, there was a candidate running for state senate by the name of Troy Parker.Troy Parker had yard signs that read "Let's refresh our community."The people had them all throughout the senate district planted in their yards. Here's the catch though….Take a guess how many of those yards had unkept lawns full of weeds and the like?A whole lot of them.Such illustrates my point.

  11. soapster says:

Refreshing your community begins with you.

  12. Lista says:

Ok, Soap, I will not Deny that there is such a Thing as Christian Apathy, yet this is not Based on the Bible. It's just Like James says…"20) But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?" and "26) For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." (James 2:20 & 26, KJV)Works without Faith, though, is meaningless and Empty. As to the Yard Work, though, not everyone is going to Measure up to your Expectations, Soap, and there are all sort of Reasons for this. Laziness is one Possibility, but it is not the Only One. Sometimes it just has to do with Priorities and how Busy a Person is doing all sorts of other Things. People can Only do so Much, and sometimes their Priorities are Different than the One who Judges them for what they did not get done.

  13. Beth says:

Thanks, Lista, for keeping up with this thread. The Bible does tell us that if you don't work, you don't eat, so we know that prayer alone does not make things magically happen, and that we cannot sit on our asses. We are also called to do good works. Doesn't sound like we are called to be lazy!

  14. Beth says:

I should add that I will continue to give my support to organizations that help women who want to have their babies and not abort them, I just won't engage in discussions with people who think its OK to chop babies up in the womb or burn them or suck them out.

  15. Lista says:

Hi Beth,You are Welcome and I Agree fully with you on the Abortion Issue. As to the Work Ethic. Because of an Experience that I have had in the Past with Clinical Depression, I am very Keenly Aware of how Judgmental and Legalistic this Idea can become when Taken too Far. God Expects us to do what ever we are Capable of and Nothing More.It is not good to be all the Time Placing the Blame on other People for things that we could do something about ourselves, yet when Depressed, I've Discovered that Continually Blaming Oneself for how I Feel, the Lack of Motivation, or even the Failure to get something done does not Help either. Instead it just Results in Increasing, rather then Decreasing Depression and Drive. This Problem is Very Highly Misunderstood and I have not Succeeded at Explaining it to those who have a Tendency to Judge. Too Often, People just Think that I am Trying to Justify something and/or am Lazy and they are missing the Whole Point. I Continue to Wish that I could get People to Understand what I am Trying to say, yet it just doesn't Appear to be a Message that People want to Hear.It is a Message of Compassion and Grace and a Willingness to Help and Encourage, rather then using the Work Ethic Idea as a Tool to Bring Judgment, and well, it's sort of Like Beating someone Over the Head with a Bible, or in this Case, an Idea. That is the Work Ethic Idea, Mixed with an and Unhealthy and Ineffective Mix of Guilt and Shame.Successful People have no Clue at all what it is like to be Clinically Depressed an Unmotivated.

  16. soapster says:

When one suffers from an ailment or disease or whatever (be it depression, alcoholism, etc.) the issue is not getting others to understand you and your disease or ailment. They don't suffer from it. You do.Thus, what needs to occur is for you and they to learn how to cope and live and deal with their ailment or disease. If someone is an alcoholic, it's not a matter of not enough people understanding the poor alcoholic. The problem is with the alcoholic himself understanding their problem and dealing with it accordingly.

  17. Lista says:

God Instructs us to Help the Poor and Weak. In Order to do this, a Little Understanding is Required. We are Instructed to Help Others, not Only just Ourselves and in Order to Help Others, it is Necessary to Understand Others, not just Ourselves. No One is an Island and Selfishness will eventually Lead to Judgment. Also, if you Understood anything at all about Alcoholism, Soap, you would Know that Alcoholics do not Usually Find Help until someone other then the Alcoholic Intervenes.

  18. Beth says:

Soapie is all about selfishness, so he doesn't understand the concepts you are talking about, Lista.
