School shooting yesterday

on February 28, 2012

Since it happened in the area, the news about the shooting dominated the airways, and I listened to a lot of it.  There was a lot of speculation as to where to lay blame, only 1 caller to the local talk show said it properly, we need to blame the kid who shot the gun.  There are lots of kids who come from messed up families, or have parents who have been in jail, they all don’t become murderers.  There are lots of kids who are bullied, they don’t become cold blooded murderers.  He was not crazy, he had targets and he did not attempt to shoot himself as most of these killers usually do.

Gun control is not the answer, people like the shooter will get what they want if they really want it.  Metal detectors are not fool proof, all you need is one person to get through the metal detector, and then have a friend pass the weapon through a window.  What COULD have prevented the tragedy was just one person who saw his Facebook page tell someone what he posted.

It was all just a senseless act of violence, and my heart goes out to the victims, their families, and all the kids whose lives are forever changed because of this.

I was impressed with the unarmed teacher that chased him away. Teachers get a lot of
undeserved crap these days, but they sure care about their students.

Agreed, BB, the teacher you mention is being hailed as a hero. The news however has been very sad, however, no good answers for why this happened.
